When she was just 8 years old, she started acting on stage in Sydney, Australia. Martha's New Coat was her first film part. Her TV debut on one episode from the TV show McLeod s Daughter. In the sci-fi show The 100, she played a major character. The story was based on a similar novel. She portrayed Commander Lexa who was a formidable commander for 12 clans. On Fear the Walking Dead she was a strong leader of twelve clans. The show received a positive review by critics and has also won multiple awards and nominations. Jigsaw Girl, The Branch as well as other short films have featured her. Her first feature appearance was in the disaster movie Into the Storm, which included found footage. The movie was quite successful commercially, however it was mostly met with negative critiques.
